The Upper Six Website Sins

They say that the eyes are windows to the soul. For your business, the website is the window of your enterprise. And you should be concern on what a passerby to your “window” is thinking? Would it during a few moments inside stop and possibly want? Or would they just pass over, without giving him a second glance to give?

The goal of any Website is to catch as many visitors as it can. The desired response of visitors could be that they complete a purchase, up to a circular sign, enter a competition or simply to carry out an outline. The end result is the same – you need to web surfers, your web site to hang around for as long as possible.

However, there are certain aspects of your websites which could discourage potential visitors to stay for a few minutes:

Sin # 1: Slow Loading
This is a crucial site sin. Your homepage must load in 30 seconds or less. When a visitor waits longer than 30 seconds, they tend to just leave the website. Optimize your website, by using fast loading graphics to use as few as possible and then use only JPEGs and GIFs. Your Web site should be no more than 20% graphics and at least 80% of the text. Why? Text loads faster and can keep your site visitors in reading your site as it loads up.

Sin # 2: Schlechter Plan
A visitor should find what he or she needs on your website in just about three clicks. More than that and you lose valuable visitors. Your navigation menu should be easy to use, and each link must be working properly. Use a sitemap. Do not use imagination
Cursors. Do not use menu systems difficult. Text should be readable but not too large. Keep it simple. Set up as a front new Internet user would react to your web site. Would they love it or hate it? Could a new visitor to your web site according to the information easy to find that they are looking for?

Sin # 3: Terrible color schemes
There must be something wrong if you landed on the website you exactly need, but ended up seeing a website full of colors that are not pleasant to the eyes. If you need instructions on how to use colors for your website, look at any magazine for examples. Black or dark blue text on a white background is the easiest and most effective color scheme. For your menus, and different background colors bear the following in mind:

Red is stimulating and competitive.

Blue is calm and tranquil.

Green is calm and renew.

Yellow takes peoples attention.

Purple is rich and luxurious.

Brown is solid and reliable.

Sin # 4: Poor spelling and grammar
If you sell a product or online and maintain your web site is contaminated with spelling and grammatical errors then expect your visitors to be turned off.
Here are three tips in checking web pages:

1. Use a Spell Checker. Each has a word processor.

2. Proof-read everything you write from bottom to top. They pollute more mistakes that way.

3. Always proofread anything that you 24 hours later. You will be surprised at how many mistakes you have committed if you do not pay much attention on what you write.

Sin # 5: Flashing Graphics
Flags or logos, flash, spin, hide inside and out or perform any other trick is a no go area. Use them. A Web site logo or a flag should be a static graph  or text.

Sin # 6: Hit Counter

You can just remove this from your website. Any decent web host can provide you with emergency traffic, which may take the much more accurate information than a hit counter supplies.
